About Us

UmojaPride Is A Beacon of Hope
in Uganda

In a country where the law has been weaponised against identity, UmojaPride exists where visibility is forbidden. We operate in the margins, in the silences created by fear, and in the spaces where survival itself has become an act of resistance.

Because state-sanctioned hostility denies LGBTQ+ Ugandans the right to exist openly, we have built an invisible infrastructure for protection and resilience. UmojaPride is not a movement of spectacle; it is a movement of endurance. Our success is measured not in headlines, but in lives kept safe, housed, and whole.

We serve as an activist-led shield for those the law seeks to erase. We are the quiet force that holds the line when public advocacy becomes impossible.

Our Protocol of Discretion

For LGBTQ+ Ugandans, visibility can be a death sentence. Safety is our highest currency. Every action we take is guided by a strict principle of uncompromising anonymity.

01

Anonymous Housing

When discrimination blocks access to housing, we step in, securing accommodation through trusted allies and ensuring rent stability for those at risk.

02

Livelihood Restoration

Quietly reconnecting individuals with income, skills, and economic pathways that allow independence and dignity.

03

Collaborative Defence

Working with experts who understand the need for quiet protection, building networks of legal and community support that operate beneath the radar.

The Long Game

While our operations are discreet, our message is deliberate. We believe that laws will only change once culture begins to heal.

Strategic Storytelling

Through strategic storytelling, UmojaPride works to dismantle the myths that sustain hatred. Our Stories document the lived realities, histories, and biological facts of Queer existence in Uganda, without ever exposing the individuals behind them.

These stories confront the false claim that LGBTQ+ identity is a foreign import and reclaim the Queers' place in the Ugandan narrative as a natural, historical, and human reality.

This is slow work. But it is necessary work.
